I ordered the 1989 Happy Holiday Barbie from a person online. When she arrived the cellophane is yellow. She stated in her ad that there was no yellowing. Was this particular Barbie sold with yellow cellophane? Her dress is white so I thought maybe she was sold this way to protect the dress. THANKS
Hello - As far as I am aware, the cellophane should be clear. As you can see from the photo here 1989 Holiday Barbie it is clear.
1998 Holiday Barbie with the black dress and the pink shawl. Although the back of the box shows her with a cape not a shawl and I was told that she was recalled because of this discrepancy. I never took her back to the store but cant find any on ebay with the recall information. Could you tell me about that?
Hi Leah - As far as I am aware, this doll was never recalled. Suzanne
Comments Is it normal for the boxes to have different pictures of the details on the Barbie than what the dolls themselves actually have. These are the only dolls I collect because I think they are so beautiful but have never really paid much attention to the collectibility or other details of the Barbie. This year I decided to find out all about them. Thank you for your time. Leah
I have a 1989 Holiday Barbie that pictures her with her hair to one side but the doll has it on the other. I have also had basic dolls with pictures in different outfit than what she is actually wearing. Mistakes happen and things get redesigned. it is no big deal really. I have never heard of a doll being recalled for these mistakes. Amanda K.
i have a 1994 holiday barbie but she is not in the normal box she is in a black box with no markings on the clear window there is a sticker that says paul david with a address in chilicothe ohio is the unusual?
Hi - It sounds like your doll was de-boxed & then put into a dealer box (Paul David is a Barbie dealer) to be sold. Suzanne
Do you have any information about this doll? (Barbie 1994 Happy Holidays 35th Anniversary Brunette) I can't find it any where on the Internet. She is the same as the original 1994 except for the brown hair and wreath.
Hi Tim - I am not familiar with this one - usually the hair color variations were done as store exclusives - so I'm wondering if this was done for one store. I will try to research & see what I can come up with, but will go ahead & post this in case someone else knows the answer. Suzanne
I literally have dozens of Barbie reference books and guides & your doll is documented only in one - it says it is a "Mattel Festival Doll" (whatever that means?) There are four dolls listed in 1994 as Mattel Festival dolls - three of them are brunette versions of otherwise blonde Barbies. I would say you have a VERY rare doll on your hands. Thanks for sharing it with us! Suzanne
Yes, the doll was sold (only) at the first Mattel Barbie Convention in 1994. I was there!! And yes, there were a limited number made. Hang on to it if you LIKE it, but don't be fooled because (1) doll sold for mega-bucks!! The Barbie market, like any other goes up/down like a yo-yo!! Don't expect to get rich on this doll. Yes the doll is limited, but so is the market. Consider honestly, just how many collectors are out there, who want a convention doll, if they didn't attend THAT particular convention??! AND, in the case of THIS doll, she's part of the Christmas doll collection; those prices hit the toilet when the series was discontinued!! Blah, blah, blah!!! Protect it, keep it in NRFB condition if you enjoy it. Search e-bay and similar and sell when you feel comfortable with the price. Don't whine if you don't get the big bucks!!
I also have this doll she is very rare, only 540 were made for the 1994 Orlando Fl. Barbie convention. she recently sold for $2050.00. she is very rare and I certainly would hold on to her.
I'm trying to find a picture of the doll for 2010 (the line sold in grocery stores). Your web site only shows this line of dolls through 2008. Can you update the site with the 2009 and 2010 dolls?
Question About 1997 Happy Holidays Barbie - Special Edition Brunette
1997 Happy Holiday Barbie is still in her original box, never been taken out. She has blue and green eye shadow. The picture on the back of box shows blue eye shadow only. I was told this is a misprint Barbie and is worth more. Is this true ?
Hi - I have never heard this one before - sounds like a "creative" seller - but I could be wrong - we will see if anyone else knows if this is the case. Has anyone else ever heard this bfore? Thanks! Suzanne
Comments I have three of this year Barbie. I have the one that the one that is the mistake. I have the one that the picture and the doll are the same and I also have one that I bought in VA that has Happy Holidays in French. I am figuring that the last one was shipped to the U.S by mistake and was possibly headed to Canada. So I am kinda curious whether any are worth money.
I have it to I was told the same.
I also have the 1997 Barbie Special edition Happy Holidays in original Box red. Does anyone know what it is worth??
My mom has the same barbie as you, green eyes but the box has blue. Did you ever sell yours? We also are hanging onto it because we heard it was more money. Natalie
