Talking doll?

Talking doll?

Ok the identity of this doll has continued to elude me! I hope you can help.
She has blonde hair, no bangs. Blue eyes, with real eyelashes. She has a curious shaped mouth, so I'm not sure if she is Barbie or a friend or relative. She looks a little like Francie, but Francie has brown eyes. She does not twist at the waist. She has a pink flower pull string on her neck and speaker on her back, but she does not work. She has straight arms. She is marked on her bottom : 1967 Mattel Inc. U.S. & Foreign Pats Pend Hong Kong.

Hi Brandi -
It looks like you have a Talking Truly Scrumptious. The doll is based on a character of the same name from the movie Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang. It was released in 1968 and is considered to be very rare. It was made with the France head, using blue eyes instead of Francie's Brown ones. Here they are on eBay

Truly Scrumptious
by: Anonymous

This was one of my favorite Barbies when I was young. I, too, am from Arkansas. Several years ago my hometown paper had letters to Santa from 30 years ago, and mine was in there asking for Truly Scrumptious! I do still have her, but my best friend & I were some Barbie girls and, unfortunately, the dog chewed on her hands & she has other miscellaneous wear & tear. I wouldn't part with those dolls I played with so much anyway!!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang toys

I recently found a standard Truly doll, unfortunately she has had a haircut, and has two gashes on her face :( she is still rather beautiful and since i love the movie, im glad to own her!

Upon doing further research I found that Mattel also released a plush 'Mr Potts' doll to accompany truly and also a model Chitty car. If only they made a 'Mr Potts' Ken doll!

Thank you so much! I'm glad I finally know who she is! Now, if I could only find that dress... Thanks again. So glad I found your site!
