Question About Barbie's Soft 'n Snug Outfit (1971)

by Laura Candy
(Wichita, KS)

I have the hot pink version of this Fashion Pak Outfit. It also has a yellow bodysuit with V-Neck. I have not been able to find this blouse anywhere in the Barbie books. It matches the Bright Yellow Satin Band on the Skirt. Both the Skirt & Body Blouse are tagged Barbie R. Can you tell me if you know anything about a blouse being included with this outfit or what this blouse might go to?

Thanks so much!!!!
Kind Regards,
Laura

Hi Laura -
I apologize for taking so long to answer - I had problems for a few weeks & the new questions weren't showing up.
I believe the yellow body blouse is from Golfing Greats #3413 (1971 - 1972).

Yes, it is Golfing Greats! I stared at that picture in my book & it looked like it had a collar. I found a Pic on Ebay & there it was V-Neck and all. LOL Thanks for your help!

This was so helpful! I just noticed the Barbie tag on this blouse and was trying to find it in my books, too. I also thought the Golfing Greats blouse had a collar - I really appreciate the information!

Identifying Mod Barbie Dresses

by Andrew S.

I was on flickr and ran across this photo by the user 'blackiegracie' and fell in love with the two outfits on the end. which ones are they? all I know is that they're mod era fashions.

thanks for your help!

Hi -
These are not vintage mod fashions - they are recent mod creations from Mattel.

The dress on the far right & pink fur coat are from Groovy 60s Barbie - which was released in 2000 as part of the Fashions of the 20th century series.

I also recognize the dolls, earrings, sunglasses, hose & boots from Far Out Barbie from 1999.

I found one listing on eBay for the dress on the far left - but it doesn't say what it is - I am hoping someone else can identify it for us? Barbie-Silkstone-Francie Mod Groovy RETRO 60's Clothes

Scooby Daphne
by: Becca

The pink coat outfit (second from the right) isn't vintage mod either. It is from the Scooby Doo Daphne doll. Blackiegracie has an amazing collection.

2nd From Left Dress
by: Jax

Love the Emilio Pucci style print on this. It is from a Haute Couture set from around the early 90s. I remember there was also matching trousers & pretty sure there was a coat, silver lame trimmed with pink fur springs to mind.

Question About Vintage Barbie Doll Pilgrim Shoes

by Paulette
(CT)

Do you know if the pink and lime green Pilgrim shoes that came with Happy Go Pink #1868 (1969) and with City Sparkler #1457 (1970) were marked on the bottoms? The ones I have are unmarked. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Paulette -
Pilgrim shoes from the Mod era are either marked Japan, Korea or unmarked. It would be dependent on when they were made, not the ensemble.

#1844 Extravanganza dress tagged question

by stefanie

Hello and thank you,

I have a vintage #1844 extravaganza gown that has no silver dots on it. I cannot find this anywhere. It is tagged Barbie. It is identical in every other way to the other 1844 dresses. Can you offer some assistance with this?

I have never seen one without the silver dots - but I would assume that this is a variation that got through without the glitter. I would think if it had glitter that had been removed that the net would show signs of wear or residual glitter.

There were numerous variations in fabrics and colors. You coat can be found in orange, blue, hot pink and brown. The brown one has multi-colored fur trim.

Skirt
by: Urrgghh

I don't know how old this post is, but the skirt is a pak variation made from the fabric from Ken a Go Go. There's also a version using the fabric from Ken's College Student. The value goes up and down somewhat, but usually it's between $75 and $125 give or take. As a big Ken fan, I love these pieces but still haven't found this version at a price I can live with (I'm a bargain shopper lol).

Hope this helps.

What is this dress?

by Ron
(Calif)

What is this dress?

What is this dress?

My mother passed away in June of 07 at the tender age of 91. She always loved...stuff...and dolls were one of her loves. The thing was, she collected everything of value... or no value...just stuff that appealed to her...and that is all that really matters! So anyway, I have been going thru this stuff and selling it on ebay and while doing so I ran across this gown. It is a very nice brocade, and looks somewhat similar to the Gala Abend style from the 2006 Christies auction. I found this in a bag of other Barbie clothes, there are no other pieces that I have run across that match this. So if it is complete or not, I have no idea. It does has two u shaped clips in the back that should hook on to receivers made of thread, but the thread is broken so you can not close the back. There is no makers tag but the quality is extremely good...in my opinion. If you were to ask me, I would say the fur trim is real, but I am not positive about this. Does anyone have any information they would be willing to share about this piece? It has been stored for about 25 years & I have no idea where or when she may have acquired it. As it does belong to the estate, it will eventually be sold, but that will not happen for a while. Regards! Ron

Hi I have 3 set of pilgrim shoes but they say Taiwan. Are they vintage ? I also have a pair which are not marked ??? Please help.

(Answer from Suzanne - Barbie items were made in Taiwan 1970-1987, so while they technically could be considered "vintage", they would most likely have little value or demand, unless it was a unique of rare item.)

Hello,

I've been trying to find the value of this Barbie dress but I have not been able to even find it over the internet! Its a tulle layered dress of yellow, orange, pink, and peach and a flower on the breast. It has no clasps on the back but it does tie. The tag inside the dress is a little cut off, but it evidently shows the original "Barbie by Mattel". If you have any information on the original name for this dress, please please PLEASE comply. Its driving me nuts!!

Thank you,
